My research interests mainly concern the distribution and mobility of metallic elements in natural and anthropogenic soils and in industrial waste. I look at these issues from two different perspectives. One approach is to study ultramafic soils and their relationship with the natural Cr and Ni cycle in nature.
For example, my recent research has shown that certain rocks are an essential natural source of metals to the environment. The soils developed on ultramafic rocks contain nickel and chromium in concentrations many times exceeding those considered acceptable in arable soils.
The second main topic of my scientific activity is the research of smelting slags and, above all, an attempt to determine their impact on the environment and the possibility of using them for recovery.
My approach is interdisciplinary as I work at the border between mineralogy, geochemistry, soil science, and biology through comprehensive studies of rocks, metallurgical slags, soils, and plants.
Moje zainteresowania naukowe dotyczą w głównej mierze rozprzestrzenienia i mobilności pierwiastków metalicznych w glebach naturalnych i antropogenicznych oraz w odpadach przemysłowych. Staram się podchodzić do tych zagadnień dwukierunkowo. Z jednej strony poprzez badania gleb ultramaficznych i ich związku z naturalnym obiegiem Cr i Ni w przyrodzie. Z drugiej strony badając żużle hutnicze a przede wszystkim ich wpływ na środowisko i możliwości wykorzystania do odzysku substancji użytecznych. Do przedstawionych zagadnień stosuję podejście interdyscyplinarne pracując na pograniczu mineralogii i geochemii, gleboznawstwa i biologii poprzez kompleksowe badania skał, żużli hutniczych, gleb i roślin.
